Amazing

This picture sequence is amazing. The video that Ultivillage will eventually release will do better justice to this progression of events. Background info is necessary to fully appreciate how incredible these pics are.

I'm still on the Ultivillage scaffolding nearest the front left endzone corner and facing the field with the strong crosswind blowing from behind me. Sockeye is up 14-13 and about to receive the pull from Johnny Bravo. Matt Lipscomb rips a huge 360-degree OI pull and Sam O'Brien positions himself at the front left endzone corner and readies himself to catch the pull to center to Wiggins. Since the pull is OI the crosswind catches the top face of the disc just before Sam catches the pull and jukes the disc enough that he drops the pull. The crowd goes wild as Bravo rushes down the field to receive their gift only 5 yards away from scoring and tying the game at 14-14 overtime. Chicken picks up the disc before most of the O or D can get set so JV makes an upline cut from the primary dump position, Chicken throws a flat and head-level flick to space that he intended to get past JV's defender but MC makes a huge layout bid and swats the disc out OB to the nearest sideline. Sick D, but not yet. The 20 mph crosswind catches the disc and sends it back in play as everyone and their mother has time to position themselves in the endzone for a hospital pass outcome. Three Sockeye guys go up for the 2nd D attempt (O'Brien and both Wiggins) but can't get a hand on the disc. JV, who didn't jump, has a perfect opportunity to pick up the garbage but fumbles the catch and the disc finally hits the ground, turnover for Bravo. Sockeye works the disc 70 yards and eventually score and take the game, 15-13, to win their 2nd straight UPA Club Championship title.

Notes:
The faces are priceless.
See how high O'Brien (Sockeye #9) gets up for the D attempt (dropping a pull is never easy to swallow).
You can sorta see the disappointment and disgust in JV's face in the last pic as he let his nerves get the best of him for a split-second.
Only Ellsworth and I were on the scaffolding so we were the only two guys with this unique positioning for the camera angle. Maybe I should submit these pics to UPA and see if they'd use them for the magazine.

Enjoy.
