808 goes to 808

Halfway through the top 4 club tournaments of leisure. Potlatch and Kaimana in the books. Poultry Days on deck this year. Paganello maybe never. I can't imagine justifying a flight across the world to play on sand. Maybe one day when the cards are right. I would rank Fools West up there with its fields and view to compliment otherwise normal tournament offerings. DTB and a private DJ do make my Fools weekends a lot better than most though.

Blackfish
Dragon Army
Sarcastic Fringeheads
Almos Pau, Try Wait
Heads of State
The Southern Dandys
Thong
Philthy
Ono

8-0 until the finals where we got rolled by Santa Barbara. It would have been nice to watch the Ono/Sanban semis but we were too busy with our own side of the bracket. I heard the Japanese gave them more of a run for their money we did. The theme of the team was none other than the man himself, MACGRUBER. His confidence and quick thinking guided our throws safely to their targets regardless of amerible-bility or teramazing-ness.

I did get a similar feeling this weekend as I did for my first Potlatch experience. I wouldn't say it felt out of place but I didn't really embrace the entire tournament atmosphere. I didn't stay for either night's tournament parties due to exhaustion from the day. It felt just like another club tournament with a roster stacked with talent. I'm sure I'll get the entire show next year as I did my second go-around in Redmond.

The poke tasted sublime though. As did the fresh papaya each morning for all the Adams out there.

Vegas - recap

Looks like even God has a sense of humor, raining on Michelle's Pres Day parade.

Don't forget to go out and support women's Ultimate.

Vegas was dangerous. We went 4-4-1 against teams I don't care to recall. They all prob double-teamed on the mark anyway. Lots of zone and lots of hammers. The Iowa jerseys were cool though.

Friday was windy and cold.

Saturday was rainy and cold.

Sunday was windy and cold.

Had all three hit on any one day somebody would have died. Wear a trash bag. I've never played Ultimate in solid mud before. Now all that's left is snow.

Pics are courtesy of this troublemaker.

Happy Birthday to Zip, Allen, Potter, and Harry.

Vegas - preview

Vegas this weekend. Somehow there are only 3 teams in our pool, even though Davis got the shafted to the kiddie section of the adult pool.

Michelle Ng, Instigator, made a shady deal with God and traded in half her soul and all her heart. In return her wish was to make it rain on Cultimate but have the sunny skies break out just in time for Pres Day the following weekend. You heard it here first.

Another order of DTB jerseys is in the works and will be here in time for Fools in Santa Cruz.
